How time away works
When you close Whiskerfall, your cat curls up and naps, and its adventure in the Dreaming goes on. When you come back, a While you were napping window shows what it did.
What carries on
- Fighting. Your cat keeps fighting in the zone you left it in. While you play, the game measures how fast your cat really clears that zone: kills, XP, gold and drops a minute. Time away is paid at that pace. In a zone you have only just arrived in, it works out an estimate instead.
- Skilling. Life skills carry on exactly, action by action, while you have the materials. Fish that only bite in certain weather or at night wait for you to be online.
- Meals and kits are eaten as usual during the counted fighting.
- Your Fortress keeps building, and its planter and fish tank keep producing.
- The Exchange. Your offers keep filling while you nap. Collect in any town.
How long, and how well
At first a nap counts up to 12 hours, at 75% of your online pace. Anything longer is simply a longer sleep. Things that stretch it:
- Napping, a skill that trains itself while you're away: every level adds a few minutes and a little efficiency, to about 18 and a half hours at about 90% by level 99.
- Bottled Dreams, filled while napping: drink one before you go and the next nap is longer and better.
- The Sunbeam Nook in your Cardboard Fortress, the House Cats faction, and the Dreamer talents you earn by spending Lives.
Making naps count
- Leave your cat somewhere it beats easily. A cat that keeps getting knocked out earns less while it naps.
- Play a few minutes in a new zone before you go, so the game has your real pace.
- Pick a meal and a kit in the Combat menu so the buffs keep going.
- Production skills stop when their materials run out, so stock up first.
- In the apps, turn on notifications to hear when a nap is full.
