What is Whiskerfall?

Whiskerfall is a free online idle RPG about being a cat. You make a cat, it walks into a shared dream-world full of other players' cats, and it fights, gathers and crafts by itself, even while you're away.

The story

Cats sleep sixteen hours a day. Humans think it's laziness. Every cat knows the truth: when we sleep, we walk the Dreaming. Your cat dozes off in a sunbeam, falls through into it, and meets Mothwick, an old one-eyed tom who says you are Ninefold, a rare cat whose spent lives come back. Parts of the Dreaming are going grey and silent, and it traces back to Morrow, the Last King, who stole the nine Life Lanterns so he would never reach his ninth life.

How it plays

Questions

Is Whiskerfall free?

Yes. It is free to play in your browser, with no ads, and nothing in the game is sold for real money.

Do I need to download anything?

No. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You can also install it to your home screen as an app.

Does my cat keep playing when I close the game?

Yes. While you are away your cat naps, and the adventure goes on in the Dreaming: it keeps fighting or training the skill you left it on, for up to 12 hours at first. The Napping skill makes that longer.

Is it multiplayer?

Yes. There is one shared world. You see other cats walking the same zones, fight the same monsters, chat, trade on the Exchange, join colonies and run dungeons together. You can also play entirely on your own.

How long is it?

The story runs to about level 140, a few months of casual play. Level 200 takes most players six months to a year, and there are nine Lives to spend after that.

Is it like Melvor Idle or RuneScape?

It borrows from both: life skills to 99 like Old School RuneScape, and idle progress like Melvor Idle. The fighting is closer to MapleStory, on side-scrolling maps with ledges and ropes, where your cat fights by itself in real time.
