Picking a class
Every cat starts as a Kitten and picks a path at level 10, a branch at 30, and advances again at 60 and 100. Every class is tuned to clear zones at about the same pace, so pick the one whose fighting you like to watch.
The five paths
- Clawguard: big-cat warriors with a sword and shield, up close. Sturdy and simple. The only path that can tank in dungeons. Movement: Charge, a dash.
- Whiskerseer: witch's-cat magic from a staff, hitting groups from range. Movement: Blink.
- Yarnslinger: ranged hunters with a bow, who shoot up at ledges and kite. Movement: Featherstep, a high double jump.
- Prowler: street cats with two daggers who fight for the critical hit. Movement: Flash Jump, a long double jump.
- Purrbard: purr-magic bards with a lute, who sing up close to weaken and slow. Movement: Lilting Leap.
Level 30 branches
| Path | Branch | Plays like |
|---|---|---|
| Clawguard | Lionheart | Tank: roars, marks foes, carries a shield |
| Tigerfang | Berserker with claws: bleeds | |
| Whiskerseer | Hexpurr | Curses, burns and marks, with a wand and tome |
| Moonmystic | Healer: lunar heals and shields | |
| Yarnslinger | Skystalker | Single-target sniper, extra damage to birds |
| Knotweaver | Slows whole packs with a spindle | |
| Prowler | Shadowpaw | Assassin: guaranteed crits, executes |
| Alleycat | Pickpocket: steals gold on hit, dirty tricks | |
| Purrbard | Choirmane | Healer: anthems, shields and heals |
| Hissmonger | Screeches that weaken, slow and burn, with a horn |
Each branch has one form at level 60 and one at 100, which keep every earlier skill and add new ones. The class list has every skill.
Dungeon roles
Out in the world, every class fights alone just fine. In five-cat dungeons a party needs a tank, a healer and three damage dealers. The Clawguard line can tank. The Moonmystic and Choirmane lines can heal, as can a Whiskerseer or Purrbard before they branch. Everyone can deal damage.
Talents
From level 10 you get a talent point every two levels, for three trees per path: one shared, and one leaning into each branch. Each tree ends in a capstone that teaches a new skill. Talents can be reset for gold in any town.
Changing your mind
Your class stays with you. After the story ends you can spend a Life: you start again from level 1, keep your skills, gear and gold, earn Life Embers for a permanent talent tree, and learn faster each time, faster still on a path you haven't taken before.
